bollywood come-down

ah, yes. what a week it was. like early-to- mid-twenties birthdays, i stretched the launch celebrations out for a week, till last saturday. the bollywood party at the bedford went off; i think i've converted a whole lot of my friends to the bollywood dance phenomenon. it's so much more than dog-patting and lightbulb-screwing - people got so into it last saturday that it felt as though we were at a wedding. you'll be proud to hear i stayed sari-clad all evening, even all that dancing didn't dislodge the firm tucks and folds my mum put in place for the evening. we get to see the video my dad took this weekend, so that should be fun... between now and then, i will cradle the thought that i looked sultry and sexy wrapped up in my aqua and navy creation - until i watch the video, when all memories of the party and my place in it will be tainted with the realisation that i have five chins. yes, i am aware of my patheticness. let's move on, shall we?

mark wrote a speech which he never did deliver on the night; instead he read it to me before we went to bed. it was a beautiful speech, but he's a shy boy, which is also a beautiful thing. two lines i remember from the speech -
'in the true spirit of bollywood, we invite couples to have spectacular arguments - in song - then make up, because fate draws them inexplicably back together; and we invite strangers to bump into and spill their drinks on each other, then fall instantly in love under the disco lights'.
aahhh. he gets it!

i have been having weird weeks of interviews for print and radio; i went in to the abc studios in southbank and did a tardis interview for hobvart radio. except the link didn;t work in the end, so it was a phone interview from inside a tardis, which i didn't mind, because i was at the abc in southbank. i should have stowed away... best radio interview so far prizes go to jan goldsmith from 3cr's published or not, and radio 927's trevor himstedt. i love doing radio interviews, and i think it's because of one great piece of advoce i got before i started them - after each interview, don't go over and over what you said, cause it's done. start fresh for the next one. best piece of advice anyone could hope to give to an over-thinker like me!

Congrats again shlinki - and just wanted to let you know, while madly dashing through the newslink at perth airport I saw your book (that cover, I'd know it anywhere!)...looked like six copies on the shelf but no time to stop and check. Will let you know of other sightings...

Just read a few more pages and sent 50 e-mails to all family and friends to get a copy of the book. Some are dashing out at lunchtime to grab a copy to read. Some (typical kaindia style) are going to borrow my copy!!
