i woke up this morning with a scene in my head - a scene which featured a character from what i'm hoping will turn into my next writing project. recently i've been doing a lot of thinking about, but not much writing of, the three characters i think will star in my next novel. one of them i know better than the other two, and the dream i had featured one of the characters i don't know that well yet. i wasn't expecting it, so that was an interesting way to wake up.
i've been doing some research and planning, and am not as worried as i used to be that the idea was going no where. it seems the character in my dream is at the tail end of her chrysalis now, which is exciting. the other two are sort of waiting in the wings - one's going 'we know this whole story is all about me anyway so i don't see why you're spending so much time on her', and the other one's just gone off into her own world again because she can't be arsed waiting around for me to get to her. should be fun when i finally get them all in the one room.
anyway - news on the bollywood beauty. the film option contract is closer to being finalised - that is, closer than it's ever been since the whole process started in july 2005. this whole excercise is teaching me a lot about trust and patience... and you'll be as happy as i am to know that this month, i will finally see my first sales figures statement. i don't expect a cheque, but am quite keen to know how many units i've shifted.
to finish off, please enjoy the following picture of me baring all my teeth next to marian keyes (note the copy of own book strategically placed in front of her - nice work, no?)
p.s. - yesterday the traffic for this site passed 6000 visitors since its birth in july 2004. now, if *each* of you bought a copy of my book... ah, just joshin'. thank you, come again!

Film option? they're going to make your book into a movie? If so, that's awesome!
Love your pic, BTW
hey bj, yep they are going to make it into a movie... eventually! but i'm not going to start planning an outfit for the premiere yet, if you get my drift :o)
glad you like the pic it was great to meet her, she's a real sweetie!
hi nicole,
wow - you're a real-life bollywood reject! better than a recovered addict like myself. i'm currently at the stage where i like buying dvds, but can't bring myself to actually watch them. i have a few in the dvd shelf i haven't even touched... i have been reading so many bad things about a movie called 'boom' that i'm really curious to watch it, though. i did go to an extras audition in melbourne for that one that was shot here last year - needless to say i didn't get very far.
also, keep your eye on this blog for further info re: movie progress. i'm sure we'll need a selection of wheatish, medium-brown and dark people to fill the screen :o)
